Traction Alopecia
BY TRYBELLO

Our hair reigns over our identity, and I will admit that I love a good set of extensions as much as the next girl does. We tend to gravitate towards hairstyles that make us feel confident and secure– and to be honest, our hair has the power to dictate how the rest of our day will go.
So when faced with unexpected shedding and breakage it can seem like the end of the world, bringing us into a tizzy to find out the cause of our newly receding hairline.
You’ll be shocked to find out that the tight pony or the “clean girl aesthetic bun” you’ve spent hours perfecting might be to blame.
Receding hairlines from tight styles, or even extensions and braids can be attributed to traction alopecia– which if not treated on time can cause devastating hair loss to the affected area.
Here’s a couple signs to look out for
- Patches of thinning and breaking strands
- Sparse hairline
- Redness, and small pimples on hairline where the most tension occurs
- And in worse cases, widening of the hair part
So, how can you combat this?
Don’t fret… your hair follicles are very resilient and can bounce back with a little bit of love and care.
Start with laying off the tight hairstyles for a while and stick to using them no more than one to two times a week, or resting your scalp from extensions.
I know, I know, easier said than done, but this gives your hair a chance to recuperate from the damage.
Secondly, we recommend experimenting with new looser hair styles like beach waves, or opting for looser braids.
There's also treatments available to stimulate hair growth and strengthen the follicle.
Luckily Try Bello’s hairline has just what your hair needs to grow back healthy and strong.
No one likes to face hair loss… but rest assured that you aren’t alone and it can be reversed! And with a little tlc and patience, you can get your hair looking fuller, healthier, and stronger.
